According to the various Albanian Media, the Crown Agent has signed an agreement with the Albanian Government by which the company will manage the Customs of the republic of Albania for an initial period of two years.
As the media confirms the company has offered her services to the Albanian Government through a project aiming at improving the management of the performance of the Albanian Customs including the quality of service offered customs, including the recruiting of the new staff, training and appraisal procedures. further more the British Embassy has supported the company through a press release, emphasising the fact that the UK Government has good references for the company and it is up to the Albanian Government and Parliament to take into consideration the offer.
Crown Agents is working with the Ministry of Finance in Albania to support the development of the country’s Customs Administration. The aim of the project is to:
- increase levels of revenue collection
- increase levels of integrity within customs administration
- build the capacity and effectiveness of the customs administration in line with the requirements for accession to the European Union
A team of Crown Agents experts will work alongside counterparts within the Customs Administration in Tirana and throughout Albania on a consultancy and advisory basis. In addition will also be procuring equipment and vehicles and helping with the selection and training of local customs staff from operational teams.
