One-day business seminar, 30 July 2015. Tirana

South Africa celebrates twenty one (21) years of freedom and democracy with the Albanian business.

At a beautiful setting of the Prince Park in the heart of the Albanian National Park In Tirana, the Chamber welcomed the Delegation of South Africa lead by H.E. the Ambassador of South Africa Mrs. Tambo, the Political First Secretary Mr. Mnisi and the representative of the Minister of Health Dr. Mogale.

In the last two years, South Africa and the Albanian British Commonwealth Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ABCCI) have had regular consultations. The good understanding and cooperation has resulted in the realisation that the Albanian market needs to start to know about South Africa in order to increase trade and investments between the two markets. As the Ambassador quoted the International leader of people’s freedom President Mandela ‘Things are impossible to do, until they are done’ even the relations between Albania and South Africa, because of lack of previous trade not helped by the geographical distance- it might look impossible.

It is against this background that, on 30 July 2015 in Tirana, in celebrating South Africa’s twenty one (21) years of freedom and democracy that the two institutions organised a one-day business seminar focusing on medicine, wine and tourism.

This seminar, a first of its kind between the two countries, was aimed at establishing an effective dialogue between the people and business of the two respective countries, Albania and South Africa, with the aim of developing trade and investment opportunities within the said sectors. During the seminar and the following Lunch hosted by the Ambassador Tambo, the participants representing the Tourism, Medical, Wine and Mining Industry shared their experience of their efforts in trying to do business with South Africa. It was a pleasure to see that several representatives of the Mining Industry had visiting South Africa and were to date impressed with the natural beauty and hospitality. Their knowledge of the cooperation opportunities despite the distance brought a breath of inspiration and confirmation on the great prospect ahead.

The event is seen as a building step towards a set of annual projects ranging from this one-day seminar for 2015 into possible future trade missions and exhibition of South African products in Tirana. The participants registered their interest to join the Trade Mission to South Africa early next year organised by the Chamber.

If you are interested please let us have a CV of your company (sent by email: info@abcci.com) and your field of interest in such cooperation. All requests will go through a pre-selection process and winners notified.
